Restaurants - Best of Taste
Written by Alexandra Pecci

bot2011

The Seacoast region has hundreds of dining options, and we all have our preferences. We asked you to get out and vote for your favorite restaurants, bars, sandwiches, and other eateries and dishes here and beyond, and you certainly came through! We tallied thousands of votes to determine the best in more than 70 categories, from Bagels to Wings, with ethnic cuisine, lobster rolls, markets, and much more in between.

Many thanks to the chefs, restaurateurs, brewers, bakers, sommeliers, farmers, and

other food professionals who have established wonderful culinary destinations and created amazing tastes. It’s your hard work that makes the Seacoast such an exciting place to dine.

And now–the Best of Taste 2011!

The Works Bakery Café

At The Works Bakery Café, the bagels are made with unbleached, unbromated flour and boiled and baked onsite at each of its six locations in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. Although “the works” bagel is the most popular of the more than two dozen available, seasonal varieties like spinach onion keep the selections changing year-round.

There’s even a California version, still all beef—no vegetarian here—but sublimely matched with spicy guacamole and Monterey Jack cheese. Add great classic sides, and it’s hamburger heaven! 49 Pleasant Street, Portsmouth, NH, (603) 436-9289, www.therustyhammer.com .
