BBQ Legend Paul Kirk Joins "Mainely Grillin' and Chillin" Print E-mail

Paul Kirk, the "Baron of BBQ," will appear at the 2009 "Mainely Grillin' and Chillin' Country BBQ State Competition, hosted by the Raitt Homestead Farm Museum in Eliot, Maine, and scheduled for the weekend of August 7th-9th. The competition is part of the Celebrate MAINE Festival. Chef Paul Kirk has won nearly 475 barbeque awards, topping the World Championship of BBQ seven times.

Kirk will host a Pitmaster's Class on Friday, August 7th, as a prelude to the weekend's activities. The class will be suitable for backyard enthusiasts, seasoned competitors, and those considering opening a barbecue eatery. The class will cover sauces, rubs, meats, and preparing the barbecue pit.

Kirk officially kicks off the weekend's competition on Saturday, the 8th, with a book signing at 10:00 a.m. The book, "America's Best BBQ" features Maine's own Denny Mike Sherman, who will also be present. That afternoon, he will be the VIP judge at the MG&C "Iron Chef Competition, involving Maine seafood.
