Rabelais Announces Apple CSA: Buy Your Shares Now

Starting September 2, and running every other Wednesday through November 11, 2009, heirloom apples, and unusual modern apples, all harvested in Maine, will be available at Rabelais Books in Portland, Maine. Those interested in buying shares in these apple harvests can sign up now. To register, send a check made out to Out on a Limb CSA, to Out on a Limb CSA, 167 Turner Mill Pond Road, Palermo, Maine 04354. Include your name, snail mail address, phone and e-mail address with your check. Shares are $120.

Every other week, at least 1/4 bushel (approximately 10 pounds) of apples will be delivered for pickup at Rabelais. Each delivery will be accompanied by a newsletter with tidbits and lore about each apple variety and how best to use them, including recipes. Orders can be picked up at Rabelais from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. They will be held until 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays, unless other arrangements are made.
