The Library Restaurant, a classic, traditional steakhouse, has an atmosphere of ageless elegance. Guests experience the finest cuts of prime and choice steaks and chops, the freshest seafood with outstanding service in one of the most beautifully preserved historic buildings in New England.
The Library Restaurant opened its doors in 1975 and has run continuously since its inception. Bruce Belanger bought the restaurant in 1996 and has carried on a long tradition of fine dining. In 2003 Belanger say’s he introduced the traditional steakhouse model because people shouldn’t have to travel to Boston to get a first rate steak. Here they get the clubby feel and quality of a traditional steakhouse within the casual atmosphere of Portsmouth.
The national publication Esquire Magazine recently voted The Library Restaurant as being one of “The Top 50 Lounges in America”. The English style pub features over 140 bottles of vodka, the largest scotch and bourbon selections on the Seacoast and an award winning wine list.
