A private, fully furnished home with ocean views and optional luxuries, like a personal chef or massage therapist, set Mermaid Crossing apart from many other vacation spots in York. If a guest wants something, from wine delivery to a stack of their favorite magazines, Mermaid Crossing’s management aims to make it happen.

“Anything that they need we’ll be more than happy to find it for them,” says manager Elisabeth Bailey. “We’re trying to go as above and beyond as much as we possibly can.”Privately owned, but managed as a vacation rental by Maine Coastal Getaway, the five-bedroom Mermaid Crossing sleeps 11 people and is a five-minute walk from downtown York. Bailey says everything in the home is brand new, including a renovated kitchen and a planned 1,000 square foot deck outside, complete with a daybed overlooking the ocean. The decor is upscale and beachy, with a cottage-chic aesthetic. Clean, bright hues of white, sand, and turquoise bring the beach inside, as do nautical and seashore accents, like a kitchen chandelier hung with sea glass and window dressings strung with starfish and sand dollars. “It’s not your basic one-week rental,” Bailey says.
